I have always been interested in exploration, and developing space technologies that will expand our habitable frontier. As we prepare ourselves to become a space faring species in the next few decades, there is a need for developing new technologies that will enable us to not only withstand but thrive in harsh environments. I believe by building a moon base, we will also learn how to use the same technologies to increase the sustainability of earth-bound communities.
I will contribute my expertise in microbiology and bio-mining to develop new building materials. I would like to explore the use of biotechnology to recycle waste-stream to combine it with regolith, and for the bioextraction of rock-bound resources.

I am an extreme environment architectural designer, who spent a year living in a simulated Martian habitat experiencing ICE environments and wrote a doctoral dissertation on the architecture required to make these projects work for long-term habitation. Getting the species multi-planetary, trading our squabbles for the desire to explore the universe, and starting the diaspora is the greatest goal we could have. Permanent human habitation of the Moon is the next logical step in human space exploration as the Moon is our gateway to the Solar System. Robotic precursor missions to the lunar surface are required to ensure that the resources are actually reserves. The richest and most accessible deposit will dictate where the Moon Base will be located. This approach will bring the Moon into our economic sphere of influence and stimulate the economy by opening a new sector of opportunity.
The Lunar Exploration Analysis Group has already developed a Roadmap to develop a permanent Moon Base. This involved many experts from a number of important fields and shows that the Moon is required to enable sustainable Mars exploration.
